The amount of votes cast on election day yesterday for both Franklin and Benton counties was extremely small. If you look at the number of votes cast for the counties, Benton county had 27,189 ballots for Trump and 15,454 for Hillary and 2,079 votes going to Johnson for a total of 44,722 votes according to news reports. That sounds like a lot until you find out Benton county population according to census is 184,000 people making voter turnout somewhere around 25%.

Franklin counties totaled 5,627 for Trump, 3,460 for Clinton and 381 for Johnson for a total of 9,468 votes. The population of Franklin county is 86,000 meaning just over 10% of the population even voted. Together both counties average around 20% of he population even cared enough to fill out their ballots.
