The Columbia Center Mall's Barnes & Noble bookstore has agreed to host "Drag Queen Story Hour" at noon on July 6.

"Drag Queen Story Hour" is an initiative to expose children to "gender fluidity" and normalize different expressions of gender. It's an opportunity for friendly, trustworthy people to introduce themselves to children through story time to teach them not to be afraid of people who may look and act differently but are otherwise good people.

The idea began with libraries. Bookstores are now signing on.
