The weather couldn't have been more beautiful this past Saturday for the 2021 Mid-Columbia Duck Race. As the excitement builds to the pouring in of the Ducks, hot dog and other food vendors are selling their goods, and activities like cornhole are set up in the park for everyone to enjoy.

Then, just before noon, thousands and thousands of ducks are poured into the Columbia River. Each duck is numbered to match a ticket. Basin Disposal provides the giant container that is lifted by a large Lampson crane. The duck that crosses the Finish Line first wins the grand prize, a 2021 Toyota Tacoma donated by Toyota of Tri-Cities.

But wait! There are lots of other winners too. Including $1,500 cash, other cash prizes, gift cards, and even a full kitchen suite. The lucky winner this year is Jennifer Musick who was floating duck number 5 9 6 1 9 9 2. For a complete list of all the winners click HERE.

Over 18,000 tickets were sold this year, and proceeds will be split among six rotary clubs in the Tri-Cities area. Each club chooses which charities they would like to support throughout the year until the next Duck Race.

After the race concludes and the winners have been chosen, thousands of ducks are scooped out of the Columbia River and put into containers where they will be shipped off to the next Duck Race. Duck Races like this are held in cities all over the country!
