Last week's robbery of Dairy Queen/Orange Julius's daily cash deposit at the Columbia Center Mall was an elaborate prank according to the store's former employee.

The robbery occurred during the week of Christmas when two employees of Dairy Queen and Orange Julius conspired to steal the daily deposits of the mall restaurant.

Manager Nadia Rodriguez, 31, and employee Raheem Mayberry, 19, were arrested after police discovered inconsistencies in their statements concerning the parking lot robbery at the Columbia Center Mall that resulted in $5000 being stolen.

Police recovered all but $677 in the botched attempted robbery.

Mayberry is saying that he was playing a practical joke on the owner of the restaurant while Rodriguez says that the robbery wasn't a prank and that they were trying to get the cash.

Police are still investigating and you can check out more details on the case here
