Four New Heavy Metals For Periodic Table Of Elements — What Should We Name Them?
New elements are being discovered all of the time, however the Periodic Table has not been updated since 2011. Scientists have discovered four new elements for the table to complete the last row. So the big question now is, what do you think they should be named?Well they are 'heavy metal' elements so it would stand to reason to name them accordingly.
According to the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, new elements can be named after a mythological concept, a mineral, a place or country, a property or a scientist. I say that we change that and substitute the names of some true gods of metal!
Element 113 should for sure be named 'Lemmium' after the late Lemmy Kilmister from Motorhead. I think it would be a fantastic tribute to the amazing metal god, don't you think?
Element 115 should be named VanHalium for obvious reasons. Element 117 should be named Rhodesium for the late Randy Rhodes and Element 118 should be named Dioium after the late Ronnie James Dio!
Elements 113, 115, 117 and 118 will be added to the table this week. Let them rock these elements the right way!
