Halestorm Break Out AC/DC, Judas Priest, Guns N’ Roses + Skid Row Covers in Philadelphia
In announcing their 'An Evening With…' concerts, Halestorm promised that fans would get a chance to see different sides of the band. On Thursday night (Dec. 27) in Philadelphia, the band got a chance to prove it, incorporating cover songs from AC/DC, Judas Priest, Guns N' Roses, Skid Row and more into their set.
The band played two sets in total at the Electric Factory, serving up both an acoustic session and a plugged-in performance. The acoustic-based section began with Lzzy Hale on piano, performing 'Rose in December,' before the full band joined in on 'Private Parts.' The acoustic portion also found the band incorporating covers of Heart's 'All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You,' AC/DC's 'You Shook Me All Night Long,' and Fleetwood Mac's 'Gold Dust Woman.' Hale finished the first set where she began it -- on piano, performing the song 'Break In.'
The second, electric set kicked off with 'Mz Hyde' and 'Love Bites (So Do I),' but also had the harder-hitting covers of Guns N' Roses' 'Out ta Get Me,' Judas Priest's 'Dissident Aggressor' and Skid Row's 'Slave to the Grind.' The night ended with an encore of two of the bigger hits off 'The Strange Case of …' album -- 'Here's to Us' and 'I Miss the Misery.'
Though it's not been confirmed, the set may have provided some insight on Halestorm's recent discussion about recording another covers EP. The group issued their first covers collection in 2011 called 'Reanimate.' The band asked fans for input on cover song ideas earlier in December.
