The Richland School District has announced plans for upgrading the outdoor athletic fields at Hanford High School.

The project aims to update and enhance athletic fields at Hanford High School for physical education classes, marching band practices and athletic team practices and games. The upgrades will take place on the west side of the Hanford High School campus (near intersection of George Washington Way and Sprout Road) and the estimated cost from Kennewick's Chervenell Construction is $5.5 Million, approximately $500,000 less than the original estimate. The upgrade was designed by Design West Architects of Kennewick and athletics-facilities firm DA Hogan of Seattle.

Details:

  • Installation of artificial turf on football field
  • Resurfacing of track
  • 2,000-seat grandstand with press box
  • New restroom and concession building
  • New venue entrance and improved accessibility

The project is expected to be finished by October of this year as student-athletes are preparing to compete for the first time in at least a year.
