Hantavirus Confirmed in Recovering Mid Columbia Resident
The person that was thought to have caught Hantavirus in Grant County earlier this month was confirmed to have the virus after tests.
This was the first reported case of Hantavirus since two people died from Hantavirus in 2012.
The victim has not been identified yet, but has returned home from the hospital and is recovering, according to reports.
Doctors think the victim came in contact with mice droppings while cleaning a car.
The only way to catch Hantavirus in Washington State is to come in contact with urine, droppings and saliva of infected rodents. You can breath the particles in, touch them, or be bitten to get infected.
You can not contract the virus from another person that has Hantavirus.
