Homeowners Help Kennewick Police Arrest Alleged Residential Burglar
Kennewick Police Department press release:
On 09-15-18 at about 1859 hours Kennewick Police were dispatched to a suspicious persons call in the area of 3605 W 22nd Ave. The owner of the residence advised that a male was seen in their backyard by another neighbor. The suspect male was described as an African American male, about 6ft tall, wearing dark hoodie and pants. While Officers were in the area, numerous residents reported seeing the male as well. While checking an open gate of the above residence, an officer spotted the male inside the residence and a foot pursuit ensued as the male exited.
The suspect male was reported to have trespassed on numerous properties causing damage to fences during the pursuit. Responding officers set up containment in the area and residents were advised to shelter in place. With the assistance of numerous homeowners in the area and our K9 Officer, the suspect male was tracked down to the residence of 2017 S Sheppard Pl. The suspect male ran out the back door of the garage as the homeowner advised the male was inside. The male jumped the fence adjacent to the residence and was taken into custody without incident at about 2055 hours in the backyard of 2009 S Sheppard Pl.
The suspect male was a 17 year old juvenile, and was booked into Benton County Juvenile Detention on alleged charges of 2 counts of Residential Burglary, 7 counts of Criminal Trespass, Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer, 1 Felony warrant, and 1 Misdemeanor warrant.
