Summer is often thought of as the best season to release a blockbuster movie. The same could be said for music. The summer of 2014 will be one to remember with my most highly-anticipated albums.

Rise Against - The Black Market July 15

First track released: 'I Don't Want to Be Here Anymore'

As Rise Against is my favorite band, and they haven't released a studio album since I was still in school, I am more excited than you would understand for the release of The Black Market. I felt the last two full-length releases from them were too gentle and radio friendly. With recent releases and contributions to other projects, I am optimistic that this album could go back to more brash and provoking aggression that made me love them in the first place. As of the publish date of this post, this song hasn't actually been released yet. I give you a preview of 'I Don't Want to Be Here Anymore', out on June 10th.

Mastodon - Once More 'Round the Sun June 24

First track released: 'High Road'

Mastodon may be the most underrated group in rock and metal as a whole genre. They have excellent song structure, technical ability, and they kick your ass live. Their most recent release The Hunter changed how I view metal. I would assume Once More 'Round the Sun will be no different. When I heard 'High Road' debut on Loudwire Nights with Full Metal Jackie, I knew life was good. I haven't stopped listening to it, and neither should you.
