Inmates Break Out of Yakima County Jail Monday
Local authorities are looking for at least six of 14 inmates who escaped from the Yakima County jail late Monday. The escape was reported at about 7 p.m. Monday, when 14 inmates in the jail annex used a table to force open a door that led them outside and allowed them to climb a fence to escape.
A Monday night news release from the Yakima County Department of Corrections said 8 inmates were quickly caught and taken back into custody. Six others were able to escape and authorities are still searching for them today. The news release says
the captured inmates said they were upset after the governor's Monday press conference regarding the statewide order to shelter in place and that the virus outbreak has them all scared.
The inmates who remain at large have been identified in the news release as:
"Fernando Gustavo Castenda-Sandoval -Yakima.
Hugo Alejandro Amezcue-Hernandez -Yakima.
Miguel Angel Chavez-Amezcua – Moses Lake.
Andrew Derrick Wolfley – Union Gap.
Tyrone Adam Mulvaney – Moses Lake.
Neftali Serrano – Yakima.
