Townsquare Tri-Cities Annual Food Drive For Tri-Cities Food Bank

Thank you for another successful year, Tri-Cities!

Our 2024 Food Drive raised $1745 and over 2,020 pounds of food.

This raises our contribution over 8 years to about $24,000 and over 19,500 pounds of food to feed Tri-Cities families in need.

What: Food drive for the benefit of the Tri-Cities Food Bank

Join Townsquare Media and sponsors on Friday, November 15th, between 12pm and 6pm at Grocery Outlet in Kennewick, to help feed our hungry neighbors.

Over 7 years, the Food Drive has directly added nearly $22,000 and over 17,500 pounds of food to families in our area.

We will be collecting non-perishable food items such as canned food, boxed goods, dried pasta, and rice. We will also be collecting monetary donations for the Tri-Cities Food Bank. Help us fill the Tire Factory truck for this annual food drive, which helps battle food insecurity in the Tri-Cities.

Learn More About Hunger and Poverty In Washington

According to Feeding America, a non-profit organization fighting hunger in the United States, 1 in 6 children, and 1 in 9 adults, face hunger in Washington. This number has increased since last year, when 1 in 6 children and 1 in 11 adults in Washington struggled with food.

The USDA reports that food insecurity increased 0.7% across the U.S. between 2022 and 2023, with 13.5% of households being food insecure at least once during the year. 5.1% of households were ranked as "very low food secure." Axios explains that this has been the result of rising food costs, high inflation, and the loss of COVID-driven benefit programs.

It's the efforts of local organizations, charities, businesses, and communities that keep our neighbors fed.

About the Tri-Cities Food Bank

The Tri-Cities Food Bank was founded in 1975, and serves residents of Benton County including Benton City, Kennewick, Finley, Richland, and West Richland. It serves over 40,000 families in the Tri-Cities annually.

Delivering 20+ tons of goods each week across the region, families helped by the Tri-Cities Food Bank often receive, per the Food Bank's website, "meat, eggs, margarine or butter, canned goods, rice, beans, flour, pasta products, seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables, and miscellaneous donated foods and supplies. In addition, an abundance of bread, rolls, and other bakery products are available as donations allow."

Non-perishable donations always helps keep the Tri-Cities Food Bank's pantries stocked and lets them focus their monetary donations in providing fresh food products.
