In reports filed by 509 Media, the incident occurred at about 7:00 PM on July 8th as a vehicle traveling at 80-100 MPH breached the Wye Barricade on Route 4 South near Milepost 9

The driver then collided head-on with a Hanford Patrol vehicle, injuring two officers and sending them to the hospital.
The driver was reportedly observed traveling at high speeds in the wrong lane before blowing through the barricade, according to the Tri-City Herald

Following a serious collision involving a security breach at the Hanford site, the Wye entrance was temporarily closed for investigation.
This closure resulted in significant commute delays, though travelers were able to use the Yakima Barricade as an alternative route.
The on-site employee driving the vehicle that collided with the Hanford Patrol vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.
