The 2018 Central Washington Congressional App Challenge winners, Nikhil Devanathan and Aiden Arends of Kennewick High School, were honored by Congressman Dan Newhouse at a recent ceremony.

Nikhil and Aiden partnered to submit their winning app, "Wallet Wise ," which teaches players how to manage a balanced personal budget and encourages good financial decisions. Newhouse said, quote, "It is great to see these young people interested in computer science and STEM education, and I look forward to seeing their success in the future."

All students in the 4th Congressional District are encouraged to participate, either individually or in groups of up to four. Newhouse stated that the winner could be in for a very memorable experience.

“To be able to bring the winners of the contest to Washington D.C. to show off what they’ve been able to accomplish, and meet other young people from around the country that are engaged and interested in the same field, is a pretty neat thing to be a part of,” added Newhouse.

Submissions will be accepted until 9:00 am November 1st for all students K-12 in the 2019 Central Washington Congressional App Challenge. The link provided for submission information and entry is here, but as of this writing, it is under repair.
