Kennewick Teachers Will Strike If Deal Isn’t Met on August 26th
Talks have broken down between the Kennewick School District and the Kennewick Education Association and it could mean a delay to schools starting next week in Kennewick.
85% of the KEA has voted to strike if a deal isn't met for a new contract by August 26th.
Kennewick Schools are set to go back Tuesday August 27th.
Bargaining talks commenced earlier this summer but seem to have stalled and that means the Kennewick teachers won't have a contract in place for the start of the upcoming school year.
Several items have been resolved but a sticking point seems to be salary. Kennewick teachers are asking for salary increases to match salaries around the Columbia Basin in similar sized school districts like Pasco and Richland.
I'm not sure where the talks are currently as of this morning but I'm hoping a resolution will be found. You can check out more details on the upcoming strike here.
