When this idea was presented to me, Andrew Kirk pointed out that Oregon had the number two economy ranking from Governing.com.

Like I always do, I click around in the article's links to see what information they're giving.


I noticed that Washington was ranked number 22 overall in the rankings, 20 spots behind Oregon. But when I clicked on the previous study conducted in 2013, I couldn't help but notice we were ranked first! We went 21 spots down over the course of three years.

Only two of the top 10 teams made it on the 2016 list, Oregon and Utah.
