Best Reactions to the 13 Inning Mariners Yankees Game
Six innings after the seventh-inning-stretch, the game was still going. The crowd stayed put; standing and holding their breath as the New York Yankees had the bases loaded. The Seattle Mariners fought the good fight, but it was time for the inevitable Yankees win.
With only one out, surely the Bronx Bombers would break the scoreless tie and run a hard-earned victory lap around the bases. But that didn't happen. The next two batters struck out. The opportunity was gone.
And the Mariners would win a 4 hr/7 min. ballgame with a base-hit "walk-off" in the 13th inning.
Per the MLB Glossary, "A walk-off occurs when the home team takes the lead in the bottom of the ninth or extra innings. Because the visiting team will not get another turn at-bat, the game ends immediately, with the home team victorious."
Okay, so there was no game-ending home-run. It still shows how far the Mariners have come as a team. And where they might be headed.
