Mila Kunis and her husband Ashton Kutcher are raising funds for the actress's native Ukraine.

On Thursday (March 3), the celebrity couple launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to send resources to Ukrainian citizens. The country is currently under attack from Russia, and more than 1 million refugees have already fled the nation amid the ongoing invasion. Countless others have been displaced.

Kunis, who was born in Chernivtsi, the western part of Ukraine, in 1983 before coming to the U.S. in 1991, addressed the current crisis in Ukraine in a video message about her and her husband's humanitarian effort.

"The events that have unfolded in Ukraine are devastating. There is no place in this world for this kind of unjust attack on humanity," Kunis says in the video.

As part of the pair's campaign,

Airbnb will provide housing and cost-of-living expenses for people who take in refugees. Meanwhile, Flexport will transport humanitarian aid to local nonprofits on the ground that are non-governmental organizations.

The fundraiser has a goal of $30 million. It has surpassed $3.3 million in raised funds at time of publishing. Kunis and Kutcher have pledged to match up to $3 million of their own money.

"Today, I am a proud Ukrainian... Ukrainians are proud and brave people who deserve our help in their time of need. This unjust attack on Ukraine and humanity at large is devastating and the Ukrainian people need our support," reads a message from Kunis on the GoFundMe page.

"While we are witnessing the bravery of Ukrainians, we are also bearing witness to the unimaginable burden of those who have chosen safety," Kutcher wrote in an Instagram post about the crisis.

Kunis was just 7 years old when her Jewish family fled the then-Soviet Union state alongside her father, Mark, a mechanical engineer; her mother Elvira, a physics teacher; and her brother Michael.
