It seems like we haven't got that much snow in the Columbia Basin and The Yakima Valley this year but the good news is that the mountains have been getting plenty of snow and that's good for a variety of reasons.

The amount of snow the Cascade Mountains does affect us here in the Tri-Cities and in Yakima and it looks like we've got good news with this year's snow accumulation.

It didn't start out that way but it looks like it's going in the right direction now. It doesn't make for fun driving through the passes but the snowfall is critical for us when it comes to preventing drought and wildfires.

Experts will know more on April 1st on how much snowfall we've got but if the current weather patterns hold, we could be looking at a very good year for snow accumulation and for us down in the lower part of the state, that is great news.
