Kennewick Fire Station 5 won Firehouse Magazine's Gold Award for stations under 15,000 square feet in its fifth annual Station Design Awards program.

Firehouse Magazine recognizes outstanding architecture and design from fire departments nationwide.

Gold, Silver and Bronze awards have been distributed across six categories in this prestigious competition: Career 1 and 2 departments, Satellite stations, Volunteer/Combination departments, Training facilities and Renovated fire stations. All participating entries will be published in the November issue of Firehouse Magazine and online at Firehouse.com/Stations.

From our partners at nbcrightnow:  Kennewick Fire Chief Vince Beasley said, “We are extremely proud that Fire Station 5 is being recognized at a national level. The design came from extensive outreach and partnership with our community. We will also be able to incorporate successful design elements from Station 5 as we plan for future fire stations to support our growing community."

Winners were selected by a panel of five judges, including a deputy chief, fire marshal, two architects, and a fire engineer/architect with experience in fire station designs.

Fire Station 5 is located at 6016 W 10th Avenue – corner of 10th Avenue and Kellogg Street. The 12,556 square foot station was designed by TCA Architecture Planning Inc. A very successful grand opening was held for the public on August 22nd, 2016 and the station was in full service that afternoon.
