Last Sunday, rookie safety Nick Emmanwori delivered a defensive performance that has only happened one other time in NFL history.

And the only other guy in history to ever do it…is his teammate.

An NFL Stat Record You Might Think Was Made Up

According to NFL contributor Corbin K. Smith, the Seahawks are literally the only team in NFL history to have a player record a sack, a tackle for loss, an interception, and a blocked kick all in the same game. Leonard “Big Cat” Williams pulled it off for the first time in NFL history last season.

At the time, it felt like a one-off miracle, something we would never see happen again. Our new defensive rookie wearing No. 3 obviously had a different idea.

Not only did he match that one of a kind feat, but in a way, he topped it. Williams’ kick block came on an extra point. Emmanwori’s blocked a full-blown field goal, and did so with lighting speed from the outside. When you start splitting hairs about which impossible stat line is more impossible, you're in rare company.

Nick Emmanwori Showed Up in a Big Way

The crazy part about Emmanwori's play is how natural he seems out there. Emmanwori was flying around the field like he had been in this scheme for years, not months. His timing on the blitz. His angles in the run game. His instincts in coverage. Nick is putting it all together fast and is thriving in all aspects.

And while JSN continued doing JSN things, and ‘Spoon once again delivered his weekly fireworks, this was the night where the rookie wearing No. 3 stamped his arrival.

What This Means for the Seattle Defense

If the Seahawks were looking for a jolt of young defensive star power, they’ve found it. Both newly added Seahawks players just rewrote an NFL record book that didn’t even have a page for this kind of stat line before 2024.

As a huge Seahawks fan, I would say that this is not a coincidence and shows we are witnessing a culture shift happening.

Seattle’s defense is dangerous again, and Emmanwori is one of the newest reasons why.
