Make the Dash Count is a charity based in Prosser serving at-risk youth. It takes a unique approach to service. Instead of serving kids directly, Make the Dash Count creates review boards comprised of high school-aged youth. They accept grant nominations from non-profit groups working with at-risk kids and the boards review the applications and choose who to grant money. This way, Make the Dash Count trains the next generation of service-minded adults while also supporting services to needy kids. The name of the organization is inspired by grave markers showing a dash between someone's birth and death date. While getting no attention from the grave stone, it is what the dash represents that counts, hence: Make the Dash Count!

To raise the money this awesome organization gives away, they hold the annual "Dash Race." This year's event is May 25 in Prosser. Compete on foot or bicycle in a variety of courses. Top contenders compete for the "Traveling Dash Trophy." Entry is $18 ($13 without a t-shirt). All proceeds from the race are used in grants. The location is the Prosser Wine & Food Park.
