A Richland second-grade student’s poem was selected for an award of excellence out of a pool of tens of thousands of entries from schools across the nation and from U.S. schools overseas submitted in the areas of film, choreography, music composition and literature.

Noelle Kolbinger, a Jason Lee Elementary student, won the award as part of the National PTA Reflections Contest. All entries were narrowed down to a field of roughly 1,000 that were reviewed by a panel of arts and education experts. Kolbinger's poem was one of the 206 finalists selected.
