Richland Grad Called Up to the Big Leagues
Bomber nation is swelling with pride as one of their own makes the jump to Major League Baseball.
Eric Yardley attended Richland High School before pitching for Seattle University. He signed a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres in 2013. This season with the AAA El Paso Chihuahas, Yardley had 7 saves with a 2.63 ERA over 61 2/3 innings in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. He is a side-arm throwing groundball pitcher. To make room for Yardley, San Diego optioned 2012 first-round pick Travis Jankowski. He made his debut today against the Reds.
Yardley went undrafted in 2013, so his path to the show has been remarkable.
Both the Padres & Tri-City Dust Devils shared the news.
