Is this OK?

I know that dealers can markup cars on their lot but this is absolutely ridiculous if you ask me. Doubling the MSRP of a new car because you know it is popular is just wrong. A user on Reddit posted this about the Bellevue dealer.

Is the dealership just being greedy or is something else in play here? There are some interesting theories on the Reddit page where I found the picture. One user said that he thought the dealer wanted it to be a show car and raised the price to a point where they thought it wouldn't sell.

"This is the "make me sell it" price. I'm guessing the dealer is happy to let it be a show car for the lobby"

Another seemed to agree and confirm the theory with personal experience.
"That’s exactly what this is. My local ford dealership has a f150 lightning listed for over $100k and the reason they say it’s that high is because they don’t want to sell it because it’s the first one in the state to hit a dealership, but they’ll sell it to anyone stupid enough to buy it for that price."

The car is listed on their official website with no price. Now this isn't a normal Nissan Z, but a rare "limited edition Proto model equipped with special badging including exclusive interior and exterior features limited to only 240 Protos for the U.S. Market." Still the Proto model should only cost $54,915 according to the official MSRP. So is this an out of control dealer or do you think this is just another part of the free market? You decide, but I will say I won't ever go to that dealer if I am looking for a new car.
