Soulfly are ripping eardrums apart with their single ‘World Scum,’ for which they just premiered a video on Artist Direct. The song is the band’s first single off of their upcoming album ‘Enslaved,’ due out March 13 through Roadrunner Records.

We recently spoke with Soulfly’s Max Cavalera, and he relayed his enthusiasm for the visuals in the ‘World Scum’ video (watch below), saying, “It’s a really cool video because we are not in it, there’s no band performance on it at all.”

He goes on to say, “It’s like a mini-movie and it shows scenes about Auschwitz and J.F.K. getting shot and the assassination of the Czar and Jesus and the anti-Christ fighting in Israel so it’s really intense.”

The video is directed by Thomas Mignone, and Cavalera tells us, “I worked with him before with Sepultura and Soulfly’s ‘Primitive’ and he actually hired actors and stuff to make this short movie and it’s going to be really cool.” Cavalera adds that the song itself “is pretty much a death metal song with lyrics about the bloody century, we’ve been part of it so it’s pretty exciting stuff.”

He concludes, “I’m very glad the song is the first single because it’s the heaviest most extreme song I ever put out as a single in my career so it’s very exciting to have that.”

Stay tuned for our full exclusive interview with Max Cavalera. Soulfly are set to head out on the road for a spring 2012 North American tour with Five Finger Death Punch; go here for a full list of cities and dates.
