Tragedy Last Night on WA-305 Ends with One Killed and Small Community Shaken
Last night, around 9 p.m. (June 2, 2025), Trooper Katherine Weatherwax with Washington State Patrol was called to a serious injury collision on WA-305 at George Lane. The crash was a car versus pedestrian and completely blocked the road, while drivers were rerouted on Totten Road.
At first, the only thing reported was that someone had been seriously hurt. But as the updates came in, things only got more heartbreaking.
DUI Arrest Follows Initial Washington State Patrol Crash Report
A few hours after the original report, Trooper Weatherwax shared that the driver of the vehicle involved was arrested on suspicion of DUI. It’s the kind of news that leaves you with that sick feeling in your stomach. We all know how dangerous impaired driving is, but sadly, it keeps happening.
Driving under the influence doesn’t just break the law; it shatters lives. I know, having lost two different friends to drunk driving.
The Worst Outcome was Confirmed Today
By the following morning, Trooper Weatherwax delivered the devastating update that the pedestrian hit the night before had died. One person’s decision to get behind the wheel while impaired costs another person their life. That is news no community wants to hear.
It’s hard to put into words what tragedies like this do to a small community. Thoughts and prayers for those involved.
