50 M.P.H. Winds Means Tumbleweed FREEDOM [PHOTOS]
Driving along I-82 is a bit of an adventure, so is Hwy. 240, Badger Canyon Rd., and well...just about everywhere when we have 50 m.p.h. winds in the Tri-Cities! I took the photo above on Hwy 397 in east Kennewick.
Oftentimes, you'll see folks posting on Facebook that I-82 gets down to one lane due to tumbleweed blockage. The last time this happened just last December, they actually had snowplows remove all the tumbleweeds from the roadway.
In addition to the tumbleweed attack, the 50 mph winds blew over at least one semi tractor-trailer on Hwy 240, west of Richland. Several big trucks were pulled over and waiting out the wind on I-82. We can surely expect more of the same kind of thing today. The High Wind Warning will be in effect from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A massive tumbleweed removal project was underway at the Pasco Walmart last December. Are we in for more of that today?. Misty Mixon was there and took this photo:
Raymon Bennett took the tumbleweed debacle photo below...if that's your house, Raymond, THAT SUCKS to be one of the homes that are positioned to be a catch-all when the wind blows.
Jill Partridge shared the next photo, proving that windbreaks do work...looks like all those tumbleweeds are trapped and will have to make their new home here...
One of the most amazing photos of all the tumbleweed pics I saw on Facebook this weekend belongs to Delevin Braun who caught the Queen Mother of all tumbleweeds in Badger Canyon! Check out this monster!
