The Walla Walla Fire Department has received money to help deliver the Safety Always Matters fire-safety program to students.

Usually, firefighters get to visit schools to speak to students and have them participate in the program hands-on.

The Covid-19 pandemic has made things different, not only for students but for firefighters as well.

This year, the Fire Department is participating in ZOOM sessions with students and showing videos.

The department has received a $5,000 grant from FM Global, a commercial property insurer.  The money will be used to produce fire safety videos.  The total cost of video production has a $9,000 price-tag. The videos will be seen by kindergartners through fifth-graders in Walla Walla, Prescott, dixie, Touchet, College Place, and Liberty Christian Elementary Schools.

FM Global's Fire Prevention Grant Program awards grants fire departments and community organizations who sow a need for funding.
