A 47 year old Walla Walla man named Robert Riggers was killed outside his home while trying to make a wood picture frame with a dangerous type of woodcarving called fractal Lichtenberg wood burning according to news reports. This technique uses high levels of electricity to carve unique patterns in wood soaked in water or baking soda. The wood is soaked in the solution and then hooked to a device that pumps electricity through the wood causing it to burn in lighting type shapes.

The Walla Walla County Coroner Richard Greenwood said Riggers had touched either the wiring or the wood completing the circuit and hitting him with a lethal dose of electricity that killed him.
