Watch Judas Priest’s New ‘Lightning Strike’ Video
Judas Priest have unveiled a short snippet of the new video for the song "Lightning Strike," the lead single from their upcoming Firepower album.
The full video will be available tomorrow, but the band posted a brief clip on its Facebook page. You can watch the 15-second clip below.
The performance video looks -- and sounds -- like classic Priest. Singer Rob Halford is clad in a spiked leather jacket and throwing up devil horns; lightning crashes in the background while lines like "Man on a wire wearing the brand, waiting for lightning to strike" rain down.
Judas Priest revealed the cover art and a brief sample of Firepower back in November. Halford said that the group didn't waste any time when it came to working on new material once the Redeemer of Souls tour ended in 2015.
"We're a hard-working metal band still making the metal 40-odd years later, thanks to our glorious metal fans around the world," Halford recently told Vintage Rock. "So we make music now, obviously, still for our own pleasure and enjoyment, and the challenge of finding a new riff and a new melody is always … a great feeling."
Firepower, the band's 18th studio album, was co-produced by longtime collaborator Andy Sneap and Tom Allom. It's the first Priest album since 2014's Redeemer of Souls, and is slated to come out in March. The metal legends will be touring in support of the album, with the North American leg kicking off on March 13 in Wilkes Barre, Penn., and wrapping up on May 1 in San Antonio.
