When Will Washington Mountain Passes Open & Get Trucks Rolling?
The Washington State Department of Transportation has updated information about the re-opening of some of the state's major mountain passes.
After days of closure, two of the 'big four' will open this evening with the other two re-opening, hopefully, in the coming days.
When Is Snoqualmie Pass Re-Opening?
The Washington State Department of Transportation website reports that Snoqualmie Pass has re-opened as of 5 PM today. This includes the stretch of I-90 that has been closed from Ellensburg to North Bend. Lanes at the summit will be narrow and speed limits will be reduced. As the delivery of cargo has been shut down without the ability to cross the mountain passes, there will likely be heavy truck traffic. If one does not need to be traveling, it would be a good idea to stay off the roads, they say.
When Is Blewett Pass Re-Opening?
The Washington State Department of Transportation website reports that Blewett Pass re-opens at 5 PM today. Expect passing lanes, vehicle turnouts, and chain-up areas will likely be impassable. As with Snoqualmie Pass, the delivery of cargo has been shut down without the ability to cross the mountain passes, there will likely be heavy truck traffic. If one does not need to be traveling, it would be a good idea to stay off the road.
