Seattle Woman Arrested for Assault with Hammer, Board and Hatchet

SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle police say a 53-year-old woman was arrested yesterday after allegedly attacking her roommate with a hammer, hatchet and broken board. Police say the victim and his girlfriend where attacked Wednesday night. The suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of domestic violence assault.

Castle Rock Mans Unexploded Military Projectile on Parcel of Land He Just Bought

 

CASTLE ROCK, Wash. (AP) — An Army explosives unit was called in to dispose of a military projectile that a southwest Washington man found on property he recently purchased. Jerry Uhri of Castle Rock tells The Daily News of Longview says he was told that the shell he found in a shed contained more than 15 pounds of TNT. He called police, who called in the Army unit.

Oregon Jail Escapee Attempts Carjacking Before Being Re-Arrested

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — Hillsboro police say a man who ran away from a corrections center attempted to carjack two people before he was arrested. The Oregonian reports the 28-year-old man also ran into a bank where he yelled about a robbery before running out another door.

Sequester Cuts Trim Coast Guard Vessels from Seafair, Portland Rose Festival

 

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard says it won't send ships this year to the Portland Rose Festival or Seattle's Seafair, blaming the automatic federal budget cuts. The Coast Guard said it would continue to set up safety zones and do maritime enforcement for the events. The Navy has also withdrawn from the events.
