The Tri-City Herald is also reporting the victim had been deceased about five weeks before being discovered nestled near some trees on the bank of the irrigation ditch by the highway.

The following is from the Kennewick Police Department.

The deceased female involved in this investigation has been identified as 47 year-old Annette Gae Nemeth. Proper notifications of Annette’s next of kin have been completed at this time. Police investigators are no longer at the scene, however this case is still being actively investigated.

Based on the investigation thus far, investigators believe the body was at the location for an extended period of time. The cause of death is still unknown at this time and is being investigated by Kennewick Police Department Detectives Division. An autopsy is scheduled for later in the week.

In a press release from KPD, Case Number 19-449979 involves the discovery of a deceased female after officers responded to a citizen's call regarding a body lying in the irrigation canal.

Late afternoon on Friday November 8th, a citizen reported to the Kennewick Police Department that there was a body lying near the irrigation canal that runs on the south side of Hwy 240 between Edison Street and Hwy 395.  Officers located a deceased adult female at the reported location.

Kennewick Detectives responded to the scene and are conducting an investigation into the death.  There are no details as to the cause, manner, or time of death at this time.  The identity is not being released to allow time for proper notifications.

The investigation is ongoing and media updates will be forthcoming upon Detectives processing the scene and determining the details surrounding the death.
