Yakima Has a New Spot for a Cubano that’s Worth Trying for Yourself
I'm a huge fan of a Cubano. Sometimes simply called a Cuban Sandwich on menus, it's a hot, pressed sandwich made of roasted pork and ham with Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard. Traditionally they're made with Cuban bread which is like a more dense french bread, in a way. But most any bread will do the job. They're not always listed on menus in the hot sandwich section of many restaurants but I found a new one in Yakima and had to try it. I'm glad I did.
This was at the Kiln in West Valley.
Their version was on house-made focaccia bread which worked out great. Instead of roasted pork, they used their pulled pork that they use in other things there like the pizzas they make. And potato chips complement any sandwich.
Although the Kiln may be known for their variety of pizzas they offer and their wide beer and cider selection there are a few other choice items on their menu that are great for the individual or for sharing with others. A few sandwiches, great appetizers and so much more. But I do love a good Cubano. The unfortunate thing is it'll be hard for me to order anything else or try their other items when I know I love this so much as it is.
Perhaps I can enjoy this there, then order something to go and have it later. Gonna have to start doing that for myself.
