Just about every police agency in eastern Washington and northeastern Oregon posted warnings about icy roads today.

The wet air and cold temps are the perfect combination for black ice and slick conditions. I-90 between Cle Elum and Ellensburg was backed up and at a stand still for hours this morning due to multiple accidents.

I know there are lots of tips about driving in icy conditions, but they're all really just common sense. Don't use cruise control when it's icy, watch your speed, don't brake too hard...you know, stuff like that. What I want to know is, why do they call it black ice when it's really just clear?

There have been multiple rollover accidents this morning around The Tri due to icy conditions. Please be extra careful and plan for slick conditions, especially in the evening and morning hours!
