A 25-year-old Kennewick man is in the Benton County jail after learning hiding under a mattress doesn't work.

Wednesday evening, Kennewick Police responded to the 700 block of South Garfield for a report of an alleged assault that had occurred in a vehicle.

When they got there, Police were told the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Maclovio Madrigal-Morfin, was hiding in the backyard of the home.

Officers called out to him and ordered him to exit and show himself, but there was no reply. A search ensued, and Officers found him inside a storage shed, hiding under a mattress. Didn't work.

But once Officers entered the shed, he gave up and complied with their instructions. He's now facing a variety of charges, including Assault 4th Degree Domestic Violence, and Obstructing an officer.
