A 34-year-old Kennewick man is behind bars, and off the roads, after a multi-jurisdictional pursuit early Thursday morning.

Kennewick Police didn't list some specifics of the case but said they were attempting to stop  Alexander Edwards who was in possession of a stolen vehicle. KPD didn't say how long the pursuit lasted but indicated Edwards at one point abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

With help from Benton County Deputies, the Washington State Patrol, and Richland Police, they were able to locate and arrest Edwards. After a lengthy search, he was located but refused to follow commands; to the point where a Taser was deployed.

He was subdued without further incident.

KPD emphasized Tasers are used when a subject exhibits behavior that could be dangerous or harmful to officers or citizens, and when they couple that with refusal to follow commands.

After his apprehension, Edwards was taken to an area hospital for medical evaluation, and to allow the WSP to perform blood draws. Edwards was believed to be driving under the influence.

He's now facing auto theft, resisting arrest, and DUI charges, and it was found he was driving on a suspended license, said Police.

It's ironic he was arrested on the same day area law enforcement emphasis patrols are being done, although they're focused on digitally distracted drivers.

No one was injured during the car chase and foot pursuit.
