3 Ways to Save More at the Pump and while Driving
It's no joke that gas prices are skyrocketing more than ever before, well at least in a long time. Now places like Western Washington are seeing as high as $5.10 a gallon at gas stations. We may not be that bad off here in Yakima, but we're close, so let's think up some ways to save.
These won't save you hundreds in dollars in gas by any means but the little things can make your gas last longer and even knock off a few bucks at the pump.
3.) Use fuel reward points Programs
It may be a hassle for some but signing up for fuel rewards can put a pretty big dent into those gas prices saving anywhere from 20 to 50 cents per gallon. Places like Safeway, Shell, Fred Meyer, Costco, and 76 all offer some sort of discount on gas when you sign up for their reward programs
2.) Don't Sit in Your Car and Leave it Idling
One feature of the new cars is that they turn off while idling, some think this is some kind of way to save the planet but in reality, it's to save you fuel as well. Leaving your car running while not driving just wastes fuel, if you find yourself stopped somewhere for a long period of time or stuck in traffic just shut down your engine and wait. This will save your gas from disappearing while you're not even moving.
1.) Look for privately owned Gas stations selling cheaper gas
When it comes to saving at the pump the best thing you can do is look for the cheapest prices, oddly enough you may find those at locally owned gas stations meaning people around here actually own them and not the big corporations. You could see as much as a 10 to 15 cent difference just by finding a family-owned and operated gas station.
