The Chiawana Riverhawks pulled off a huge come from behind win tonight in Tacoma as they knocked off the Camas Papermakers to win the WIAA 4A State Football title!

After going up 13-10 at halftime, Chiawana looked flat in the second half while Camas went on a 16-0 run. The Riverhawks never gave up the fight, though. Quarterback Joey Zamora made things interesting by finding Dre Dorton for 57 yard bomb, tying the game at 20-26 with less than a minute to play. After highly touted national recruit Deion Singleton recovered the ensuing onside kick, the Riverhawks managed to move the ball down the field. A huge pass interference in the end zone helped Chiawana get into scoring position before Zamora found Blake Bishop wide open in the corner of the end zone. The touchdown came with no time remaining on the clock and knotted the game at 26-26. Following a successful extra point, the Riverhawks celebrated and the Papermakers sat stunned at what had just happened in the last minute of play.

That was just as exciting as any college or NFL game I have watched in a long time! One heck of a way to win the school's first title since opening their doors in 2009. This was also the fourth state title for Chiawana Head Coach Steve Graff, who also won the championship game with Pasco High School in 1998, 2000, and 2003.

Congrats, boys!
