Dollar General Is Scoping Out Store Property In Umatilla

A new retail store in Umatilla could mean a boost to the economy and it's not your usual run of the mill dollar store

Dollar General is eyeing property on the corner of 6th street and Yerxa avenue. The company is doing its due diligence in an article posted by the Hermiston Herald and could soon be setting down roots in Hermiston.

What makes Dollar General different than the usual Dollar Store is that items aren't all priced at a dollar. I wasn't familiar with the store until my wife and I drove along the Oregon coastline last year and all along the highway, we'd see these Dollar General stores.

A statement from the parent company of Dollar General discusses how the company decides it's new locations:

In selecting store sites, we take a number of factors into consideration, carefully evaluating each potential new store location to ensure we can continue to meet our customers’ price, value and selection needs. We further strive to provide convenience for customers who may not have affordable nearby retail options.

The company has been working with Umatilla's city planning committee and hopefully, the new retail store will make its home in Umatilla.
