Extra Richland Police Officers will be at Carmichael Middle School today due to a threat made against the school.

School officials don't believe the threat is credible but precautions are being taken just in case.

Richland School Officials released this statement:

Late in the afternoon of Oct. 9, Carmichael Middle School administrators received information about an alleged threat made against the school. Administrators immediately began investigating the report and contacted the Richland Police Department for assistance.

The investigation has indicated the threat is not credible and students are not in danger. Richland police officers have increased their presence at Carmichael today (Oct. 10) out of precaution.

Richland School District and all its schools take all threats seriously and thoroughly investigate them. We encourage students and community members to act as soon as possible by reporting any threats or safety concerns to the police or school administrators.
