Because of cold fronts expected to pass over the Mid-Columbia and southeastern Washington, most of Wednesday will see gusty winds and VERY high fire danger.

National Weather Service forecasters say a high fire warning has been issued for Benton and Franklin counties with some areas under "Red Flag."

Temperatures are expected to be moderate for this time of year (around 80-83) but gusty winds into the 20's will greatly increase the chance of fires and spreading. Very dry conditions will be made more dangerous due to the winds.

Residents are urged to avoid any activities that could potentially create flames or even sparks -- especially if you live in areas near fields or sagebrush.
