Grant County suspect nailed by Oregon State Trooper

Earlier this week, we reported on a Grant County suspect, 33-year-old Francisco Javier Nunez, who was wanted on charges of allegedly assaulting 2 Grant County Deputies last Sunday, also for theft and failure to register as a sex offender. A multi-area search Thursday near George, WA  didn't turn him up, but he was nailed in Oregon Thursday night.

Man busted by Oregon State Trooper after he ran out of gas.

Nunez, said Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones, was arrested without incident near Klamath Falls, OR after his gas tank went dry. Specific details were not released, but it appears an OSP trooper spotted him on the shoulder and stopped to assist.

The Trooper apparently had suspicions, and when Nunez could not produce any valid ID, radio calls were made. Eventually, word came back that he was wanted on the four charges in Grant County.

The GCSO didn't say where he obtained the vehicle he was driving in, the investigation continues.

He is in the process of being extradited back to Ephrata and will be lodged in the Grant County jail.

So often, suspects get popped because something rather mild happens...a traffic infraction, mechanical failure, running out of gas etc.  No word where Nunez was headed specifically but it was most certainly 'south.'

Speaking of travel... here are a few places he won't get to see.
