Big news and a unique idea for the Class of 2020 in Hermiston. How about an honor walk (parade) and fireworks show...YES it's happening here's the scoop...

From the Hermiston School District

Hermiston High School and the Hermiston School District are very excited to announce plans to recognize the Class of 2020. During this difficult time, it is important to honor the students experiencing this memorable situation, which caused their senior year to be cut short. Hermiston High School, in cooperation with the City of Hermiston, will host an Honor Walk to recognize the seniors and all their hard work. On May 29, beginning at 7:30 p.m., HHS seniors will don their cap and gown and walk in parade starting from the south side of HHS. The route will go west on Highland Avenue to 7th Street, where it will turn north. Students will walk around West Park Elementary, and down Orchard, returning to HHS by 8:30 p.m. The Hermiston Police Department will shut down traffic on the route, at 7:15 p.m. Community members, friends, and family who would like to view and cheer from the neighboring sidewalks are welcome to do so. The district just asks that individuals do so safely, respecting social distancing guidelines. Hermiston High School will culminate the event with a fireworks show from the Hermiston Butte, beginning at 9:30 p.m., for the greater Hermiston community to enjoy from the safety of their homes, car, sidewalk.

Good job Hermiston I love this concept...Congratulations to the Class of 2020
