Thanks to a homeowner who saw something strange, Kennewick police have helped break open a theft ring.

Officers say they served a search warrant for a shed located at a home in the 2900 block of West 19th Ave. after they'd been tipped off by the homeowner. It's not known if he lives there, or was renting out the home, but he observed suspicious activity.

Then he noticed a number of items in the shed with a company name on them, and they ended up being from a recent burglary in Richland. After serving the warrant, Kennewick police confiscated an entire large van full of tools, parts and other high-dollar items.

Officers say they are "aware" of the parties involved, and this find provided a lot of information to help the investigation moving ahead. No other details were released, but it's suspected this could be part of a theft ring.
