Former NHL goalie Chris Mason is currently plying his trade in the German Elite League, and much like he did in the NHL, he's bringing his love of Iron Maiden with him. Mason had previously worked in Iron Maiden's famous mascot Eddie into his hockey masks and he's doing the same for his new gig with the Ausberg Panther.

According to In Goal magazine, Mason reached out to Steve Nash at EyeCandyAir to help create the helmet. The goalie will work in the colors of the Panther logo, but he's also paying tribute to his Canadian heritage by portraying Eddie carrying a Canadian flag. The logo is also a tribute to acclaimed Iron Maiden cover artist Derek Riggs as it mirrors the cover art for Riggs' 'Run for Cover' book. The other side of Mason's helmet will show Eddie carrying a German flag, signifying the league he is playing in this year.

The helmet will also feature a couple of other special touches specifically for the goalie, as a family portrait originally drawn by Mason's oldest daughter has been worked into the artwork as well.
