It looks like a long overdue upgrade to the Toyota Center will hopefully keep the Tri-City Americans Hockey team playing in the center for a few more years to come.

It's a 4-million dollar overhaul that will bring the Tri-City Americans up to the Western Hockey League standards. The WHL requires teams to have facilities that have set standards for player safety and fan enjoyment.

A much needed ice plant and two 41-foot wide video screens have been added to keep the Americans playing at the Arena for a few more years.

If the Center didn't upgrade, The Americans might've had to move after their lease expires at the end of the 2020 season.

The good news is that with the modifications, The city of Kennewick will be able negotiate with the Tri-City Americans a new lease that could see the team playing in the Tri-Cities for years to come.
