Metallica Release Full Recording of Their First Live Show of 2022
Metallica officially kicked off 2022 on Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, with their performance at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. It was their first live gig of the year and if it's any indication, they're ready to take over the world. Whether you were there or not, you can enjoy the entire show right now by downloading it at LiveMetallica.com or streaming it via nugs.net.
The setlist included 16 heavy hitters, opening with "Whiplash" and closing out with "Enter Sandman." Though it's been a couple of months since they last played live—their 40th anniversary gigs in San Francisco were their final shows of 2021—the band sounded tighter than ever.
When we tweeted out the setlist, we were met with a mixed bag of emotions from followers. Some people loved what they heard:
Other people, not so much:
But regardless of where you fall on the setlist, once you hear the show, there's no denying that Metallica dominated the Vegas stadium.
Now that they have this concert under their belt, Metallica are preparing to hit the road for several international dates, starting in Santiago, Chile, on April 27 and wrapping up in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on May 12. Just a couple of weeks later, they'll be back in the states for two major festivals: BottleRock in Napa, Calif., and Boston Calling in Boston.
After that, they get out of America once again for a run of shows all over Europe.
As of right now, the only other stadium shows they have on their itinerary are Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, N.Y. on Aug. 11, and PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Aug. 14. You can grab their full tour schedule here.
