No Coronavirus Halloween Masks On Amazon!
One of the best things about Halloween, is you get to dress up and pretend you're someone or something that you're not. Plus you usually get a lot of free candy! In fact, it's one of the only holidays that actually gets better as you get older. Whether it's enjoying and feeling the love for your little ones as they experience the fun and joy of dressing up and getting candy, or going to the bar and see all sorts of characters. Usually dressed very sexually. A cop is now a sexy cop. A cat is now a sexy cat. Ninja Turtle is now a sexy Ninja Turtle. Thanks to Amazon, I don't think we'll get to see any Sexy Coronavirus Costumes this year!
Apparently, too many people complained that Halloween masks made to look like the COVID-19 virus made fun of the killer disease, and making light of the seriousness of the whole epidemic. When the bright green and red mask with a grinning face was for sale, it was going for just shy of $20. Originally listed for sale from Guangdong, China, the masks titled "Corona Halloween Mask" & "Corona Latex Horror Mask" were quickly criticized by parental groups.
Rachel Power, chief executive of the Patients Association, told The Sun:
These masks show a terrible lapse of judgement by the manufacturers and sellers, and I hope they will be removed from sale quickly. I've no doubt the great majority of people will find them hugely distasteful, and I can't imagine that many people would wish to wear one.
You can still buy virus styled masks on the online marketplace giant, but when it comes to actual masks based on the COVID-19 coronavirus, they have been pulled. When reached for comment, an Amazon spokesperson said:
All sellers must follow our selling guidelines and those who do not will be subject to action including potential removal of their account. We are removing this product.
Now before you get too bummed, do not worry, there are currently a plethora of Coronavirus Christmas ornaments available for purchase... at least until someone starts to complain on that. Here's the Amazon Search for that!
